Through gaining an Active Ambassadors Award, your group of leaders will provide increased opportunity for all children in school to be exposed to more physical activity and school sport by being real ambassadors for activity.

Benefits of Active Ambassador Awards

The Active Ambassadors Award was created in 2021 by Jake Duxbury, an experienced primary school teacher and long-standing PE lead. The programme was born out of Jake’s observations during the post-pandemic period, when children’s activity levels declined and many struggled to manage their emotions during unstructured times such as break and lunch. As a result, valuable learning time was often lost after these periods, with pupils returning to class less focused and ready to learn. Recognising this challenge, Jake designed the programme as a cost-effective and time-efficient way for schools to introduce structured physical activity throughout the school day, improving health, wellbeing, behaviour, and readiness to learn without adding to teacher workload.

  • For less than 2% of your sports premium budget, the Active Ambassadors Award offers a simple, sustainable approach to building a more active, engaged, and confident school community.
  • The programme benefits every child by developing key leadership qualities, such as courage, kindness, enthusiasm, and organisation, helping to nurture and improve the whole child. Through the award, your pupil leaders become role models for activity, inspiring their peers and promoting a positive culture of movement and wellbeing across the school.
